Self Care Squares Quilt

Visitors and supporters now have the opportunity to win one of the Self Care Squares community artworks through our Spring Quilt Raffle.
Created from individually designed textile squares contributed by local participants, the Spring quilt represents shared creativity, connection and moments of self-care brought together into a single handmade piece.
Tickets start from just £1, with all proceeds supporting future Self Care Creatives CIC community wellbeing workshops, helping us continue making creative self-care accessible across Stockport.

Patchwork of Positivity Exhibition Launch
February 2026
Self Care Squares: A Patchwork of Positivity is a community exhibition by Self Care Creatives CIC celebrating creativity, connection and wellbeing.
On display at Arc Centre, Stockport throughout February and March, the exhibition features four large patchwork quilts created from individually designed textile squares made by over 300 local participants through accessible creative workshops across the borough.
Each square reflects personal stories, moments of self-care and shared experiences, coming together as a collective artwork that highlights the positive impact of community-led creativity and inclusive participation.
Connecting Communities Award Nomination

Self Care Creatives CIC were incredibly proud to be nominated for the Connecting Communities Award at Forever Manchester’s annual Birthday Celebration.
The evening was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate Forever Manchester’s birthday and recognise the incredible work being carried out by so many inspiring local organisations and community groups across Greater Manchester.
It was an uplifting night filled with connection, generosity and shared purpose, and we felt truly honoured to be recognised alongside such amazing causes working to make a positive difference in their communities.

Co-op Local Community

Self Care Creatives CIC were proud to be selected as a Co-op Local Community Fund cause, supporting our work delivering creative wellbeing activities within the local community. Through the programme, Co-op members were able to choose Self Care Creatives as their local cause, helping raise vital funds to support accessible workshops, creative resources and opportunities for people to connect through creativity.
The support of Co-op members and customers has played an important role in helping us continue building welcoming spaces where creativity supports wellbeing, confidence and community connection.

October has been another inspiring month for our Self Care Squares project — and we’re thrilled to share that we’ve now engaged over 100 participants since the project began!
This month, we continued to explore the many ways creativity supports wellbeing, with workshops across Stockport including Science of Self Care, Affirmation Writing, Calligraphy Embroidery, and Watercolour for Wellbeing. Each session offered space for reflection, connection, and playful creativity — all contributing to our growing Patchwork of Positivity.
It’s been wonderful to watch so many people come together to slow down, try something new, and create artwork that will become part of a larger community piece celebrating self-care and shared stories.

September was a wonderfully creative month for Self Care Squares, with 59 attendees joining us across 6 workshops!
We explored community planning and vision boarding at Berretto Lounge, sketched and played with Botanical Doodles in both Stockport and Offerton, and experimented with paint in our Playful Printmaking sessions at St Barnabas Church and Webb Lane Allotment.
It was such a joy to see so many people coming together to connect, create, and contribute to our patchwork of positivity.

We are absolutely thrilled to share that Self Care Creatives has been funded by the UK Government to deliver our brand-new project.
Over the coming months, we’ll be bringing 300 people together to create a collaborative community artwork, stitched square by square with creativity, reflection, and care. Each piece will capture individual voices, stories, and moments of positivity – and together, they’ll form one powerful patchwork that celebrates community and wellbeing.
This project is all about connection, creativity, and showing how small acts of self care can come together to make something truly beautiful.

Creativity, Confidence & Connection in Chorley
July 2025
Our Stitch Your Vision series at Chorley Women’s Centre has come to a beautiful close!
Over six creative sessions, women came together to explore self-expression through embroidery and journaling—many trying it for the very first time. The results? Thoughtful, expressive pieces filled with colour, meaning, and heart.
More than just stitches, this project created space for connection, confidence and community—where stories were shared, laughter flowed, and creativity bloomed.

Perspectives Exhibition

We are partnering with Arc Centre to showcase The Vision of Stockport artwork series alongside the Arc in The Park photography, funded by UKSPF.
The exhibition goes live at the Saturday Art Club
on Saturday 22nd February.
The series of 4 artworks will also be exhibited
through an art trail through central Stockport,
starting at Arc Centre in the Hat Works.

The Monocle Cafe.
The Visual Mending sessions
will run from January to May.

Self Care Creatives have received funding from Manchester City Council for Deansgate residents
to learn how to design, embroider
and upcycle garments.
Classes are centred on teaching visual mending
and moneysaving practices with a key focus on benefiting mental wellbeing, positively effecting climate change, reducing household waste
and encouraging reuse.
Workshops start in December and will be
repeated monthly for the next 6 months.

Midway through the "Vision of Stockport" project and we are pleased to share that we have collaborated with 8 local enterprises,
held 15 creative workshops and
engaged 364 people.
We couldn't be more pleased with the response to these workshops and are so excited with the direction that this series of collaborative
art work is taking.

We are excited to announce that we have been successful in securing funding for a new collaborative community led artwork with UKSPF.
Building on the foundations of our hugely successful Stockport Town of Culture project, we are producing a community led artwork collection using a combination of traditional and modern artistic techniques.
We will be running a total of 30 free and fully funded workshops in collaboration with Stockport based artists and specialists.

We will be offering our creative, well being focussed Thread Journal classes in Stockport from March 2024 and aim to benefit 288 people

textile history of the area.
The project aims to work with people from all over the county, running from October to February before the final artwork is celebrated in an
exhibition at Arc Centre.

The Neighbourhood Investment Fund (NIF) is available to communities to make their neighbourhoods better places to live and
this 6 month project will help 60 Deansgate and Piccadilly residents struggling with anxiety, depression, loneliness and other
mental health challenges.

It was a privilege to be part of Chapati‘n’Change at Heaton Norris Community Centre Pavilion, organised by Simone Callaghan from
Proper Good at Sector 3 - Stockport.
We got to network with a whole room of inspirational people, including the 2 other
fabulous women who also pitched;
Hannah Hodgson and May Fairweather.
The other 2 pitches were amazing and it’s really humbling to have so many people backing my idea.
We are so excited to use this funding to help parents struggling with post natal anxiety and depression in Stockport through Creative Self Care.
