Vision of Stockport

We are so excited to have been successful in securing funding for a new collaborative community led artwork with UKSPF.
 
Building on the foundations of our hugely successful Stockport Town of Culture project, we are producing a community led artwork collection using a combination of traditional and modern artistic techniques.
 
We will be running a total of 30 free and fully funded workshops in collaboration with Stockport based artists and specialists.

Every one of our participants will receive a take home kit to encourage further creativity, relaxation and long term improved well being.

Watercolour pencils are a versatile and combine the precision of coloured pencils with the fluidity of watercolour's.

By practicing these techniques, you'll be able to harness the full potential of watercolour pencils, creating rich, dynamic artwork with a range of textures and effects.

Here are some top tips for using them effectively:

1. Choose the Right Paper

• Use watercolour paper or thick paper that won’t warp.

 

2. Layering Colours

• Start by lightly sketching or shading with dry pencils, then blend with water. For vibrant colors, dip the pencil in water or apply it to wet paper.

 

3. Blending Techniques

• Colour dry, then blend with a damp brush, or apply wet pencil directly to paper for a fluid effect.

 

4. Control Water Usage

• Use a controlled amount of water to avoid making the paper too wet.

 

5. Add Fine Details

• After blending, use a dry pencil for sharp details, or use it on wet areas for intense lines.

 

6. Mix Colours on a Palette

• Scribble on a separate surface, then lift the colour with a wet brush to apply.

 

7. Work in Layers

• Let each layer dry before adding more to create depth and avoid muddying colours.
