About the event

An opportunity to explore the heritage and history of our local town with the Hat Works Museum. This tour is centred on finding inspiration from the life stories and history of local legends and locations, whilst building confidence and connecting with the local community.

This tour with Bronwen Simpson (Museum Officer and Hat enthusiast) will include:

- Private gallery tour

- Local stories of heritage & culture

- Inspiring women of Stockport

- Wellbeing through making & more

Participants will be invitied to give input into the direction and focus of the "Vision of Stockport" community led artwork, a project celebrating the history, regeneration and natural beauty of Stockport. There is also the option to make this a full day event by booking onto our afternoon workshop at the Hat Works Museum (see other events here).

ACCESS GUIDE:

  • How to get there - We are based in the iconic Hat Works building in the centre of Stockport on the A6 between the Merseyway Shopping Centre and McDonalds (A6). Stockport train station is approximately a 5 minute walk away. The nearest bus station is immediately outside on Exchange Street.
  • Parking - Map with parking can be found here.
  • Gradients & steps - The building is fully accessible.
  • Toilets - Accessible toilets are available on site.
  • Specific needs - Please let us know of any specific needs when registering and we will do all we can to accomodate.

This workshop is aimed at adults. Further workshops will be taking place across Stockport, so be sure to sign up to our mailing list to be notified of future community activities.

All materials are included free of charge, but if you would like to make an optional contribution to our Pay-It-Forward scheme to help benefit people who can't access the classes but could really benefit from our wellbeing workshops, it would be massively appreciated:
